Faux is whoaaa! Concrete wallpaper. Quite a look! I like the variety of ”finishes” available (9 examples below).

The Ripple Effect tea table. So very calming and intriguing.

The ‘ripple effect tea table’ is a graduation project for IM Masters Design Academy Eindhoven by Korean industrial designer Jeonghwa Seo in partnership with Hanna Chung.

There is a belief by Asian people that small changes in an individual’s life can have an impact and have a certain effect to the whole community, which in a psychological term is called a “ripple effect”.

This is crafty faux sure!

Is it not amazing what can be designed and produced to imitate the real thing?

Here’s a collection of some pretty awesome, funky stuff you don’t see used everyday in interior design. Much of this- to me- seems too awesome to miss, though I’ll admit you’d have to be in a certain decorating mood and aesthetic to include some of these things in your design.

To put this on your walls you would have to be oldschool:

Here are a few things that look awesome and fresh but wouldn’t necessarily fit in with my “style.” Cool none the less.

I could see this rocking lounge chair by Lawnge  on a rooftop deck at the City Museum in St. Louis, actually.

This is weird looking, even for Fluffy.

Pickup stick table? It’s actually by Alessi…interesting. The randomness is pretty cool and depending on the room that it’s in could either look too busy or stylishly funky.

This couch-ish thing, on the other hand, is super funky to the point that I don’t like it much, but it sure is different! It is aptly named the Lava Sofa.

Cor furniture takes lounging into another level, by introducing their new Lava Sofa. The generously designed elements can be arranged in playful ways: crosswise, parallel or stacked, with each variation appealing to the user’s imagination and creative joy. The Lava Sofa Lounge is furniture, landscape, and sculpture, unusual in its uses, unique in its design.

If you really want to be wild, put your Lava Sofa on this Pollock-inspired rug. The contrast of the rug’s black and white color is what makes this splatter-filled ruge such a statement.

Hats off  to the fun and clever people who created these and other cleverly designed advertisements and such.

I have a new favorite throw for my bed that’s similar to this:

A unique rug, and a place where I’d never have thought to find a hamza.

(via Cataloge Living, a hilarious blog that gives you “a look into the exciting lives of the people who live in your cataloges.” For example, the caption of this photo was “While Gary and Elaine were in the kitchen getting popcorn, the brave yellow sweater attempted its escape.” Check it out– you will laugh!

From a post on Belle Maison entitled “Beyond the White Ceiling.” What seals the deal for me in this one is the floor!!

Custom painting to match their orange cups and chair? Yeah, actually. The owners of this very cool modern large scale painting are also the creators of it. Job well done. Read their brief story and follow their simple directions and create one for yourself.

Another cool DIY for the home. I’ve been toying around with a make-your-own “chandelier” for almost a year now since I moved into my apartment so now this gives me another option.

Hey-yo. Awesome stairs!!

Rug + painting above mantle. Just take in that expert not-over-the-top color pop amid the clean, modern-ness. And this stylin’ place is in an apartment on Beacon Hill in Boston!

A virtual medallion….? I don’t know what it is, but the color scheme is happy and bold yet not the classic bold colors.

So I’m putting them on here (instead of letting them live eternally in my google reader as they are now)

For my kayak-loving family, a view of an Ontario chalet:

It’s hot out there today. I admit I flipped on my A/C last night for a cool night’s sleep, but since I only have one unit and two rooms, my living room is hot and hummmid. My plan? Turn the long rectangular room into a wind tunnel- a.k.a. turn on three strategically placed fans and sit in the middle. Some people have surround sound in their living room, I have surround…fans. Sounds dumb, feels great!

“Think cool thoughts” is the name of the game right now (especially for the rest of the dorm, whose single rooms have little to no ventilation and no A/C (and some without fans!!)). Here are a few pics that are light and airy, fit for pre-summer cool thoughts:

Bare feet is SO summer. And a shaggy rug in a natural bright sage-y colored yarn? I think I want to make me one of these! (Click the picture to get to the instructions on how to crochet or knit one.)

Great headboard! Lovely light colors and patterns! And pillahs! So many pillahs! If they’re cool to the touch then this bed wins mega points!

More later. Stay cool!
